Project Summary

San Jose Water Company (SJWC) set out to extend their pipeline across the Los Gatos Creek. A utility bridge was needed to support the pipeline, however, access to the installation site was extremely poor. It was determined that a helicopter would need to transport the bridge to the site. The SJWC began to look for the lightest, long-span structure that could support the 36” diameter water pipe but also allow an 18” clearance on both sides of the bridge for maintenance traffic. GatorBridge® was the only manufacturer to meet the custom design requirements for a light weight, long lasting material to meet the transportation and low maintenance needs. The aluminum pipe support bridge was delivered prefabricated in two sections and were connected at a staging site. The helicopter transported the bridge and positioned the pipe into the bridge seat in less than a day’s time.
